Region continues on path of growth
The Container Corporation of India's (CONCOR) North West Region (NWR) organised its 15th Annual Awards function on September 3 at the Karnavati Club here to felicitate the domestic and ex-im trade for their outstanding performance at CONCOR's facilities in the region in 2010-11.
The chief guest, Mr Shashi Bhushan Singh, Commissioner of Customs, Ahmedabad, gave away the awards for outstanding performance in the shipping line, importer-exporter and Custom House Agent (CHA) categories of ICD-Sabarmati and RCT-Vadodara. In his address, he spoke about the role of Customs as a key facilitator of ex-im trade.
Mr Rakesh Behal, DRM, Ahmedabad Division (WR), the guest of honour, felicitated the outstanding shipping lines and ex-im trade performers of Gandhidham and domestic categories like domestic shippers and forwarders of Gandhidham and Khodiyar.
Mr Anil Gupta, Managing Director of CONCOR, in his address, gave a brief on the company's future objectives and plans. He gave away the awards for outstanding performance in the shipping line, CHA, importer and exporter categories of ICD-Ankleshwar and to the top-performing shipping lines, LCL consolidators at ICD-Sabarmati.
Mr Amit Kumar, Chief General Manager, North West Region, highlighted the region's achievements, strategies and thanked the trade at all terminals under NWR for patronising CONCOR.
Ms Saroj Ayush, Chief Manager, ICD-Khodiyar, while offering the vote of thanks for making the award function a grand success, hoped that the trade will continue to support CONCOR as in the previous years.
Along with the awardees, members of the ex-im and domestic trade were present in large numbers at the awards function.
ICD-Sabarmati, the flagship depot of the region, was the consistent leader. In 2010-11, its throughput was 1,47,637 TEUs. ICD-Ankleshwar registered overall growth of a whopping 225 per cent in 2010-11 compared to the previous fiscal. RCT-Vadodara registered overall growth of 23 per cent in 2010-11 over 2009-10. ICD-Gandhidham registered 5 per cent growth.
CONCOR's port operations at Pipavav and Mundra also registered distinct growth of 80 per cent and 30 per cent, respectively, in 2010-11 over the previous year.
